PAINTBALL MANIA

PAINTBALL

The Paintball Mania has now hit Penang. There are quite a few clubs being set up in Penang Island and Mainland. What exactly is paintball? Paintball is a combat sport in which participants eliminate opponents from play by hitting them with paintballs. Paintballs are spherical gelatin capsules containing primarily polyethylene glycol, other non-toxic and water-soluble substances, and dye shot from a compressed-gas-powered "marker".

The game may sound dangerous as it involved war and shooting amongst players but insurance statistics showed that paintball is one of the safest sports in existence, even more so than tennis. The games can be played either indoors or outdoors and usually involves two opposing teams seeking to eliminate all of the other team's players or to complete an objective, such as retrieving a flag, eliminating a specific player, and so on. There are many forms of playing of which some of the most popular are woodsball, scenario and speedball. Rules for playing paintball vary widely, with most designed to ensure that participants enjoy the sport in a safe environment.

Recently, I came across a beautiful man-made Combat Quarters Battle (CQB) scenario set on a 1-acre wide open field in Penang Island. It is one of Malaysia’s largest CQB field. It also has a speedball training field. This paintball park is managed by Kelab Sukan Paintball Negeri Pulau Pinang (KSPNPP).

The Club has one of the largest rental equipment inventories on site and can accommodate any group of players. They can handle teamwork activities for corporate bodies, birthdays, bachelors or tournament events. Moreover, the site has well-shaded picnic area for spouses or friends to enjoy cool beverages while waiting for the game to finish.

If you are a keen paintball player, you can even apply a membership card now. The card is unique and has your name imprinted on it. A 10% discount will be given for all packages and item sales.
