PHOTO HUNTERS: ORIGINAL

Some people might consider that watching anime is only meant for children,
but there are some adults who watch anime too as I have written earlier.
For this week’s ORIGINAL theme,
I am going to show you some of my ORIGINAL anime collections.
These are some of those ORIGINALs I have in my possessions.

ORIGINAL01

Here are some of the cover designs for the ORIGINAL anime that I have.

ORIGINAL02

Here is a close-up shot of the ORIGINAL authentication hologram sticker.
Why do we need to buy ORIGINALs?
They are much better in audio and visual clarity.

DESKTOP FREE VIEW

I have stopped doing tags for some time due to some personal reasons and I was surprised to still get a tag from Jho of AniqueAnik, Philippines. Since this is kind of easy, I have decided to oblige to her request. Somehow, this tag has its own uniqueness and do not require much thinking power. Here is how my desktop display looks like.

CRIZDESKTOP

I have chosen this desktop display due to the fact that it is so ME. The display depicted ME when I was young, sitting on the grass in the wilderness which was filled with lots of mysteries and dangers. I called this place my Sanctuary. Why I called it so instead of the danger zone? It was because I find this place to be a good challenge in exploring deeper and deeper into the heart of it and to discover what was not known to the outside world. I did fall and got hurt countless of times in this Sanctuary of mine. No matter how many times I have failed, I still manage to pull myself up and move closer and closer into the truth within the Sanctuary. Finally, I have conquered the Sanctuary as times passed by. It made me more mature, more understanding, more calm and having that inner peace in handling all the happenings in my own world now. This was my childhood life and it polished me to be who I am right now.

Anyway, I did find out that from what you have displayed on your desktop will show how strong and mature you are in facing the future. Let me tag a few persons whom I am quite curious to find out how their desktop displays look like. They are Alvin Chew, Aaron Chua, BenjiPapa, Wendy and Annabel Sim. I do hope you all love me for this tag. :P

[TAG STARTS HERE]

ARGUMENTS AND ITS CONSEQUENCES

ARGUMENTS

One day, while the whole family were spending time together in the living room, 9 years old Tommy was heard asking his Dad, “Daddy, why I can hear Mr. & Mrs. Tan shouting and screaming at each other the whole day and yet they still stay together for so long? What causes them to argue all the time?” Feeling stunned with such a question, the Dad replied calmly, “Well, sometimes when Mr. Tan wanted to do something, Mrs. Tan refused to let him do and they argued because of disagreements.” Suddenly, Mummy interrupted and said, “Hey, Mr. Tan has been coming home late from the office and Mrs. Tan was not too happy with that!”

Feeling agitated with his wife’s remark he replied, “You think Mr. Tan do not need to work hard and earn more money to feed the family? Let me do the talking and you stay out of this! This is a man to man talk here!” Slamming the door of the living room, the wife could be heard angrily shouting, “Fine! You can do all the talking you want since my opinions were never of any use to you all the time!” Looking with eyes wide open, Tommy could be heard mumbling, “Daddy, now I understand from what I can see here what really causes arguments!”

Even both the parents led a normal and healthy relationships, Tommy can still see how sometimes adults can act so childishly and argue over meaningless issues. In your opinion do you think that Tommy ought to have that healthy perspective on disagreement? Do you think as a parent, you need to instill in your child that even though both of you disagree and argue over certain issues, both of you still love each other very much? To me, I would think it is important to teach your child how to resolve disagreements and arguments. The key is to resolve the dilemma in front of your children by hugging, kissing and come to a general agreement. By doing this, a child will learn to understand that there is always a resolution to any disagreements or arguments.

In a relationship, disagreements and arguments cannot be avoided. It can be considered as a healthy practice as not only will you understand your partner better, it fosters closer relationships between both parties. A healthy relationship has to have honest communication and open responses to any conflicts. Too much of bickering and heated arguments would not be good for a relationship. To a child, he may think that he was the cause of the argument. Psychologically, this will affect his characteristics and behaviour when he grows up.

For the sake of their children, most parents will try to avoid arguing in front of them by pushing the arguments to a more appropriate time when the children are not by their sides. By doing so, the adults will have more time to calm down and be able to realize their lack of maturity and inability to handle such conflict at that time. Thus, calmer voice tones and discussion will be brought in and such argument will no longer exist in their conversation.

Maybe some of these points below will let you sit down and analyze yourselves better the consequences of having once too many arguments in your relationship:

We all know what it is to walk away from an argument with the mouth dry, tummy in a knot, head hot and spinning, and heart sick. Most of the time, we wished that it had never happened, deeply REGRETTING the unkind words that were said and how hurt the other person would be!

Believe it or not, more homes are DESTROYED by arguments than by fires or deaths!

We all know that arguing for the sake of arguing is a pointless waste of time! We have absolutely NOTHING to gain. Our time, energy and someone's friendship will eventually be LOST! It is said that the only people who really LISTEN to an argument are the neighbours!

Some people love to argue, and will do anything to prove their point! They would rather lose a friend than an argument! For others, arguing has become a HABIT, an automatic reaction of saying something contradictory to whatever is being said!

NO ONE ever really wins an argument! You can shout and scream and argue until you are blue in the face, but people are not going to believe that you are right unless they WANT to believe it!

No amount of logic or argument will make anyone CHANGE his mind if he does not want to! 9 times out of 10, an argument ends with each side more FIRMLY CONVINCED than ever that he is absolutely right!

Many arguments are caused by SELF-RIGHTEOUSNESS. Pushing your point, thinking that you are so right, putting yourself up and the other person down by contradicting them endlessly!

Arguing is not the real problem. It is just a SYMPTOM in our lives! LACK OF COMMUNICATION, UNDERSTANDING AND LOVE are the REAL culprits! We need to learn how to have LOVE AND COMPASSION towards others, how to WORK CLOSELY with them, how to TREAT them as a human, how to GIVE the other person the advantage and the benefit of the doubt, how to BUILD them up unselfishly, instead of selfishly tearing them down through contention and argument!

How do you feel about yourself? Are you always engaged in an argument unnecessarily? Do you have problem with self-righteousness? Are you a person who has the patience and understanding to avoid an argument? Do you think that mild argument is healthy in a relationship? Do you think a child will by psychologically affected by his parents’ daily arguments? Please share your views openly here.

POWER TO FORESEE

In our present lives, we often have the sort of feeling that we have encountered certain people or situation somehow or other. Do we have the power to foresee situations or is it our past history and experience that enable us to have this feelings? Most of the times, it is said that women possessed this power more than men as they have the “radar” in them that made this possible. How far true is this? Why don’t you try this simple test to see how effective is that power of yours?

QUESTION:

It is a clear sunny day and you have all your shirts hanging outside under the hot burning sun. You then realized that one of the shirts is still with a stain. Study the picture below and determine which one of the shirts you think is still dirty?

SHIRT

GREEN: You are an observer. Your observation power is so good that you will notice every person’s little moves and gestures. You will be able to talk your way into the heart of another with ease. Being a good host or businessman comes naturally to you.

YELLOW: You are a heart reader. You are capable of reading the motives of another person without any problems at all. You are a good problem solver. Your interest lies in solving difficult and mysterious cases.

PINK: You are a simple minded person. You take things for granted and you do not have the power to foresee situations. You are lucky to be without this power as it reduces your worries. Unfortunately, being too care free will also stop you from gaining more opportunities in life. Try to be more observant to your surroundings and never fear to face failures. Failure is the mother of success. By daring to get hit hard will eventually make you stronger and braver to succeed in life.

PURPLE: You are a fortune teller. You know how to observe a person too well. You can understand the characteristics and behaviors of another so well that you are not easily distracted from reality. The chances of you being swindled by another are practically zero.

ORANGE: You are a human relations related person. You know another person’s likes and dislikes by the flick of the fingers. You can easily handle complicated situations in a professional way. When it comes to romance, you can easily identify whether the person is suitable or not as your soul mate.

PHOTO HUNTERS: PLASTIC

Here is my submission for this week’s PLASTIC theme.
It’s a PLASTIC mug in the shape of a cat.
WAIT!!!
What are my two lovely kitties Jess and Jon doing in my prop setting?
They are always never short of curiosity when I take photos.

PLASTIC01

Now this is the actual PLASTIC mug I was to post up.
Everything in the photo is made out of PLASTIC.
I used recycle PLASTIC bag as the background,
a PLASTIC stool as the base
and of course the kitty shaped PLASTIC mug.
This is one of the consolation prizes I got for the “cat” winner
in my photography contest for the ShoutOut members.

WATCHING ANIME CONSIDERED CHILDISH?

ANIME

How would you feel when someone told you that you are being childish because you still watch anime or read manga at this age? It really did surprise me how some people would come out with such a remark. There are few hundred thousands of anime and manga in the market and most of them are purchased by adults. Even the illustrators are adults. Don’t tell me that they are childish too? Most Asians considered these as part of their culture while most Westerners related anime and manga to children. What a misinterpretation?

I am actually an anime lover by nature. Regardless what people might say about me, I still watch anime until today. It could be due to the facts that I was bought up in the Walt Disney environment and I am still an active member of the booming manga libraries. You will be surprised if I tell you that I do watch anime such as Sailormoon, Pokemon, Doraemon or even Digimon. I have also a wide collection of these anime by the boxes, ranging from Studio Ghibli collections, Cardcaptor Sakura, Detective Conan, Q Detective School, Ragnorak, Kindaichi, Saiyuki to western anime such as Rugrats, Kim Impossible, Atlantis, Nemo and so on.

To prove that anime is not only for children, let me share with you one of the anime which has 48 episodes in total. It is the Digimon Savers. In Episode 12, it was mentioned that Digimons invaded earth due to a few reasons. They are somehow related to the evil sentiments of humans which are wrath, lust, gluttony, sloth, envy, greed and pride. Even quite a large number of adults do not even understand the meaning of these words, what about children? Do they really understand the content or merely watching the animation for fun? In fact, I do learn a few new lessons too by watching these anime.

Let us listen to a short soundtrack of Digimon Savers. I have enclosed the lyrics in Japanese as well as the translation in English. If you digest the translation of the soundtrack, I am sure too that a 6 years old child might not understand the meaning of hope, future, power to dream, ambition, determination to succeed.

Waratte fuzake ate mo, Nanika ga chigau nanika tarinai
Yurayura yureru mayoi wo, Fukitobase
Hoshii mono wa ichiban, Tooku te mo tsukamu sa
Itsuka wa ano sekai wo, Teni ireru sa
Mirai wa mou tomaranai, Ashita mo kagayaku darou
Donna toki mo, Hikaru hitotsu hoshi

Omou mama kaketeku, Turimu koto wa shinai
Ashita wa kirihiraku, Hatenaku kono te de
Dokomade mo kaketeku, Nakusanai zettai ni
Yumemiru tamashii no chikara, Kanarazu ikeru kara

Translations:
Although we laugh and fool around together,
Something’s different, something’s lacking.
So blow away, the wavering, swaying hesitation
Even if what I want is the farthest away, I’ll grab it!
Someday that world will be mine!
The future won’t stop anymore,
Will tomorrow shine too?
No matter when, there’s one shining star!

I’ll run as much as I want, and never look back.
I’ll cut my way through tomorrow, with these hands.
I’ll run anywhere and I’ll never want to lose it.
With our power to dream, we can definitely do it.

If you ask me on my opinion in allowing children to watch anime, I would for sure have some doubts on its effects on the children. But again, am I stopping them in their process of growing up? Am I stopping them from knowing the real world out there? Do you think that even anime like Tom & Jerry, Bugs Bunny are suitable for children? Look at the “violence” involved with a cat using a hammer to hit the rat, vice versa. It somehow will affect the thinking and growing up of a child. Comparing with movies and TV show, watching anime can be even less violent. How children behave and grow up lies in the hands of the parents. Being overprotective is unhealthy, ignoring does not help either. No matter what, moderation is the ultimate answer. What is your view on this? Am I behaving too childish because I do watch anime and read manga? Share it out here.

BE CONTENTED WITH WHAT WE HAVE

In this era, Malaysia is considered real fortunate to have good lives, infrastructures and economy. With the stable economy, most citizens are fortunate enough to have a roof on top of their heads. More needs and wants will arise such as water heaters for the ever changing tropical weather. There are so many different brands in the market to choose from and owning one has become such a norm in every households. How fortunate we are to have so many choices. What about people in poorer countries? Do they have the options to choose from the different ranges of heaters as we do? Most of them will improvise to cut cost in order to feed more mouths in the family. How do you feel if you are in such family? Are you that innovative to come out with such a multi-purpose invention for the family?

ZIMBABWE01

Good infrastructures in the country have indeed enabled the people in our nation to travel to anywhere throughout the country with ease, reliability, comfort and speed. Thus, most people will own some sort of transportation to move about without any worries. Even those without any mode of transportation have the means to travel by public transportations. We are so pampered in this comfort zone that greed seeps into our lives without our realization. When we have a simple car to move about, we tend to be over eager to replace the car with other latest models equipped with latest gadgets and newest surround music systems, etc. Think of how fortunate we are to be able to do that and with ease most of the time. Just look at how other less fortunate countries are compared to us. We have the latest Toyota Corolla, Camry, etc. They too have their own version of ToyotaToyota Cowrolla.

ZIMBABWE02

With the speed of the vehicles, cases of irresponsible and reckless driving have increased over the years. Countless of insurance companies have popped up with different type of policies such as PA, life insurance, hospitalization plan and many more to cater with the increasing needs of its consumers. In cases of emergencies, there are many conveniently located telephone booths or even hand phones to call for an ambulance. The ambulance will arrive in the shortest possible time and a life is saved. Again…how fortunate we are. If you are in another less fortunate country, the communication mode might not be as convenient as what we have and it might take days before help will be on its way. By the time help arrived, the survival might be long gone. What do you think is their version of an ambulance? Do you think we are lucky to be where we are today?

ZIMBABWE03

Entertainment is another section where we are never short of. We have malls, karaoke outlets, clubs, restaurants and amusement centres booming out like there is no tomorrow. Even when we are in the comfort of our homes, we have the televisions, DVD players, HIFI systems, computers, Play Stations and so on to cater for our ever changing interests. On top of that, the inventions of many new gadgets such as Ipods, Dopods, MP4 players, MP3 players have made life more convenient and exciting. Do you think they have such facilities in their countries? All they have is their ever loyal version of walkman.

ZIMBABWE04

I have always felt that I am contented with what I have in my life. Simple and basic necessities are just fine for me. Some might think that I am old fashion by not moving towards newer technologies but you will be surprised of what I know. Life should be as simple as possible and being materialistic has never been in my list of priorities. What about you? Are you contented with what you own or you are seeking more items to add to your overpopulated archive? Share it out here!

SOUNDS OF NATURE, SOUNDS OF LIFE, SILENCE FROM THE BLOGOSPHERE?

TREE

Pitter patter pitter patter…The rain beat noisily at my window panes as I sat there mournfully looking out of the window. The sky which was once filled with the radiance of the golden orb now lies ever gloomily, overshadowed by the beating and roaring of the oncoming thunderstorm.

Bing bang boomZippy zappy zippy zappySnap kerplunk crash… There goes the trunk of my favorite rambutan tree, stroke by the hissing and buzzing of the lightning. It was just like yesterday that I nurture its growth, with so much sweat, so much energy out of my heart, my body and my soul. Now it lies totally helpless under the torments of the cruel weather. I sat there hopelessly watching the suffering endured by my much loved tree. Nothing I could do but to pray that God has the kindness to stop the sizzling and fizzling and to pardon its sins.

Memories suddenly flashed through my mind, showing me the similarity between the troubled tree and life. Life was somehow related to the trauma experienced by the poor tree. In our life, there are always the ups and down and we can never escaped from them. Some days are smooth flowing whereas there are days when everything seems to go wrong and chaotic. No matter how bad it may be, we still survived until today.

Have you ever wondered why the hustling and bustling of a happy and enjoyable life moments in the blogosphere has suddenly quiet down with the sound of silence? Where has everybody gone to? Except for the swoosh and whirrs of the computer fans, there was only the total silence. What has happened to the ooo ooh of the MSN, the ding dong of an incoming mail or even the buzzing of the hand phone? This is not the season for hibernation. This is also not the season for long term vacation and not everyday is a family day. This is definitely not the season for MIA (Missing In Action). Life sounded like it is in the process of ending its journey but how true is it?

I still remembered when I started blogging in this blogosphere; life was filled with the oomph and wow of never ending activities. People come and go, people visit and comment, people encourage and motivate a blogger to keep on going, were norms. Nowadays, things are different. People hardly come to pay you a visit and even if they do they are without any trace or evidence that they were here. They come and see, see then go off, and worst still they do not come at all. Even efforts in bringing in more readers has been done by commenting in God knows how many comment boxes in the blogosphere, but then the results have been rather disappointing. People hardly follow up.

I just wondered what has happened to the courtesy and politeness of the bloggers. Is the blogosphere facing a slow and timely death or is it the attitude of the bloggers to just receive and not to return the favour? I have visited many blogs and I saw many blogs are in the midst of facing extinction as there are no longer updates. Regularity of posting up articles are quite scare. I can understand how they felt too as they were not motivated to move on with any encouragements from their readers.

One person to keep the blogosphere going will not help without the joint efforts by others. I find it rather tiring and stressed out to comment in each and every blogs that I visited. It has been my way of complimenting the blog owner to strive for their best. I am not trying to be boastful here but how many people you know have the persistence to do that? The concept of “U comment, I follow” has not shown any improvements at all. The visits are still rather stagnant. It ended up as “U comment, I happy” without the initiative of the other to follow up in any comments.

Sometimes I felt like the pitiful tree, a giver of nice juicy rambutans. When I am full with fruits, people plucked me with enthusiasm. When the season is off, I am left to fend for myself without any visits. Even though I was tortured by the hit and run of the bad weather and abuse by mankind, I am still standing strong and firm against all odds. I still feel that the blogosphere is a futile ground for growth. There are still rooms for improvements. This is still a good place for gaining of knowledge and knowing the different cultures of people from all over the world. What I have experienced is only a temporary bodily injury and my roots are still deeply planted into the soil, day by day hoping that little raindrops will keep me alive. With this mode of survival, more buds will shoot out from the ground and life will regenerate by itself.

This is how nature works. This is how life works too. When there is still hope, life will continue to live on. Do not give up hope. Be persistent. Persistence is part of our life’s survival in this world. Good luck in your life journey!

Note: The above article is partly based on Onomatopoeia (highlighted), which are words that sound like the objects they name or the sounds those objects make. I shall be making more visits when my internet line and health are more stable. This is the third week I am facing connectivity problems. I do hope all my readers are understandable.

WHICH PART OF THE BODY IS THE MOST IMPORTANT?

BODY

Have you ever wondered which part of your body is most important as a human? Is it the eyes? Without sight, we will not be able to see and appreciate things in our life. Is it the ears? Without hearing, we will not the able to listen to the sweet voices and melodies surrounding us. Is it the hands? Without them, we will not be able to carry things and feel the nice sensation of our beloved ones. Is it the nose? Without it we will not be able to smell the nice aroma of food or the smell of Mother Nature. Is it the mouth or tongue? Without it, we will not be able to talk or taste the sweetness, sourness, saltiness, bitterness and hotness of the food we put in.

I have assumed all along that all of these 5 senses are equally important in our life. Each and every single one of them has its unique features and functions that one cannot go on without. I was wrong all the way. Without the eyes, a blind person can still function well by relying on his other senses. Without hearing, a deaf can still go about his daily life by seeing and learning. Without the hands, a handicapped person can still find ways to fend for himself. Without the nose structure, one can still smell wonderfully. Without the mouth, there are still other ways to feed the body.

I have been asking many of my adult friends but all of them pointed to either one of the 5 senses. One fine day, I have decided to ask one of my neighborhood kids. To my surprise, this 11 year old boy answered me that it was the shoulder. I was baffled as all these years of asking, I finally had someone who told me a different answer. I was thinking that it might be a kid’s wild guess that the shoulders were to support one’s head. I was wrong when I heard his innocent explanation. He said, “I saw Mummy putting her head onto Daddy and many relatives’ shoulders when Grandpa died. It must be the shoulder then.”

It took me awhile to come back to reality as my mind was still trying to digest this piece of information. What he said is so true and it took a kid to give me the perfect answer. At times, we do indeed need a shoulder to cry on. Someone out there, whose hearts that you have touched in your journey of life will eventually lend you their shoulders to cry on during sad times. These warm and tender shoulders are the results of your never failing efforts to make someone happy. It is your sympathy and compassion in sharing the pain of others. You touched and shared their feelings.

Even scientific terms such as “For every actions, there are an equally or opposite reactions” can be applied to our daily lives. For every goodness that you have done, you will expect to receive an equally good or maybe better treatments. But not necessary that every human being will have that good attributes in them to be compassionate in life. Some will just take things for granted. Nevertheless, doing more good does not harm a person.

Just remember this “People will forget what you did or said but they will not forget how good you have made them feel. This is human and humans are emotional beings. They will not fail to receive as much love and comforts from others. Goodness is like the stars. You do not see them always but you know that they are there for you at all times. If you have not been extending some helping hands or lend a shoulder for someone out there, do it now. Who knows, maybe someday you will receive more than what you have given. This is just my simple philosophy of life!

Dedications: Becci & Cindy, my twin friends, Wah & Diana, my childhood friends. Life is filled with impermanency. What has come into this world has to go away someday. Stay strong and do not let sorrow made you all down. No matter what, I have my shoulders open always in case you needed more comforts. My deepest condolences to your recent bereavements.
