HOW COURTEOUS SHOULD A BLOGGER BE?

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

I was wondering what the heck I am doing here in front of my computer while I’m still having 101 degrees of fever right now. I must be nuts to get myself exposed to the radiation from the screen! Some of the bloggers even commented, “Eh…you sick and still got mood make salad for dinner last night ar? No wonder you still sick today. Go sleep lar!” Well, I was thinking of doing that too. A tired mind can never write a good blog nor even give a good comment. It proved me right because I did screwed up a few comments today. To those administrators, I publicly apologize to you all. I was not in my right state of mind and sincerely hope that you all do forgive me.

Anyway, what actually triggered off my “near-to-dozing-off” state was a comment that made me stared at the screen in shock. How could anyone give me such a comment? I never knew the person, neither did the person knew anything about me. I always believe in finding out more about the characteristic or background of a blogger before I even dare to drop a comment.

I was always taught not to assume a person, a thing or even a situation. It’s the best way to avoid any unexpected anger. By the way, let me brief you all more on the meaning of the word “ASSUME”.

DO NOT ASS/U/ME = DO NOT MAKE AN “ASS” OUT OF “U “AND “ME

So, whenever you plan to drop in another blogger’s site, do make sure you know your facts about the blogger, and what is the situation like at that time. Remember, do not ASSUME as it makes an ASS out of U and ME.

There will be times when a new blogger would pop in and leave a comment in your post. Make it habit to thank them either in your comment or even in your MyBlogLog account. You would also like that person to be happy and revisit your site more. Do not forget to response to the comments in your blog as well. Most bloggers hate rejections. Keep that in mind always.

Sometimes, we also tend to over-expressed, over-excited or even over-tempered when we leave a comment in another person’s blog. To us, it might be a joke but to others it’s an insult. What should we do when we encounter this type of situation? The simplest way is to apologize, just like what I did above. Although I have no intention at all for this to happen, somehow or other I have insulted a person in one way or another without realizing it.

I always believe in 3 things that will not make me a failure in relationships with others in this society. They are “Please, Thank You and Sorry

Please show me how to be a better blogger.

Thank you for your support all the way.

I’m Sorry, if I have insulted or angered anyone in one way or another.

*nods* lesson learnt

hehe.. lesson learnt for me too. :D it's true that to some it may be a joke and it may sound awful to the author of the blog. think before you write... a common rule :)

Hey Criz!

Well, couldn't agree more; however, sometimes I only write controversial things when I am sure about what I am writing. :) And I only comment when I am confident in my opinion/comment. But yeah, you are definitely right! :)

And I always remember, the golden rule still applies - don't stop blogging unless you're forced to or you want to. :)

And GET WELL SOON!! :D

hmmmm.... blogging about controversial stuff was my original intention... but i never got around it.

anyway... the blog space is your place... dont let anyone influence the way you blog...

keep it up criz...

And maybe another good rule is to moderate all your comments. Let them comment all they want, but delete all the nasty comments. Hey, it's just a click away to delete comments :-)

It's your blog, if they don't like it, then just don't come and read. You can write whatever you want. ;-)

Oh yeah, don't blog when you're sick too :-)

Get well soon! And thanx for dropping by my blog and leaving comments there too. Btw, thanks in advance for the post that you're gonna write with me in mind! ;)

The courtesy depends on the situation really. And the parties involved. It's your blog anyway and you should write whatever you want to write. Nobody is perfect and it is also true that you can never satisfy everybody. If they dun like reading what you've written, then just bug off. They aren't obliged to comment are they? Why do you have to be courteous to them when they dun even respect your opinions, your privacy and your blog?

It's the freedom of speech I'm emphasizing. If they want to disagree, then do it politely. Too. If not, and if they can't do that, mah go open a blog and blog to their death lor. Their freedom mar right?

If you have to be courteous and try to satisfy everybody, trust me, you won't be blogging for long. Close blog lor.

Haha. Just my 2 cents. If you dun like reading it, mah press that delete button lor. =P

Hi there Criz... how in the world you end up in my blog..... i also do not know.. BUT i LOVE IT LOL.
Thanks.. if u really got lots(many) of Godsons and GodDaughters, you actually been blessed by GOD. Be greatful and all th gest with what you doing.
For this topic, I think I have to go with Zewt. The blog space is your place. Whatever you do about it, Its all yours, unless you copy of coz... but do not let others dictate what you should or should not. They have no right. Unless they pay your domain or hosted your blog lah... thats 1.
For me, I always believe in thanking people who in somehow affected you nicely, or influenced your post. Link them back. Again do not copy. If you copy, let them know beforehand. Always say thank you, thanks, arigato, whatever lah, but appreciate them. If someone told u, hey criz, salahlah... well, say sorry. If forgot to say sorry, say sorry the next time. I like people to comment at my blog. If they don't, well, nevermind, as long as they keep coming back. I know one Page ranking 5 blogger keep coming back but never comment one. Its ok. Wow, sorry ah Criz... my first comment already like lecturing pulak.. Kekkee. Sorry ah. BTW, I love your songs here. Keep it up and as Ahpek said, your english is kow kow good. I learnt something here.

Sometimes it's inevitable that you will receive weird comments but depends on how you're gonna take it. I did receive a comment asking me to go fuck a bitch, but I took it as a joke because some people are really born to be funny. :)
The best way to do, is to ignore bad comments instead of letting it disappoint you and makes you reluctant to keep blogging. I'm sure you're one tough dude! Hehe! Good job and keep posting powerful posts! Good luck!

Hehehe.. its not a lecture lah Criz. How can I lecture u. you much better than me... especially on the subject above and as far as posting powerful post. Your english is really good. Well, God Bless your parents for that. I hope my son didn't follow me. My english is sucks big time. I have to agree with Cedric again. Another youngster I love to go and learn something from him. You all really help me in my blogging time. I love going and reading all your post. You all youngster give us oldies smile and proud that you all are Malaysian. ... not a lecture, a compliment here. :)

CRIZ LAI said...

Of coz you can del my repeated post. My internet connection was fried the moment I hit the publish key. When it went blank, I thought I've lost it so I repost it, resulting in double comments. So sorry about that. My bad. But no, you still get to keep my 2 cents. Lol

CRIZ LAI said...

Val: no worries... it happens to me many times. Most of the time, All lost. Follow my habit...before i press publish, i highlight everything i type here...then press ctrl-c. If anything happen, then press ctrl-v. This will help a lot :)
